About the artist ...

I am a watercolor artist living in Carpinteria, California. I draw inspiration from nature. Dolphins, whales, and sea turtles are some of the wildlife that are especially dear to me. Water lilies, orchids, hibiscus, and plumeria find their way into my art also. Hiking in these hills and swimming in the crystal waters of Hawaii, and wherever I travel, provides me with an ongoing stream of subjects and scenes. Life touches me, and that vision is what I paint.
I grew up in an artistic family: my father played stand-up bass in a Swing Band, my mother paints, exhibits, and has her own gallery. Ive been in the Santa Barbara area since 1976, when I graduated with a B.A. in art from UCSB. Ive been painting ever since using the traditional watercolor method. No white pigment is used. I use only high quality paints and handmade paper (300lb. Arches) . :p>
I paint and teach watercolor painting, while raising my son, Devon (17). Art is relaxing for me; a way to quiet and center my mind. Its a nurturing activity that has become a central part of my life. To have this way of expressing my visionary experience is gratifying and gives me deep pleasure. I am so grateful! :p>
I am interested in licensing my work and creating images for licensing purposes. I have time to work on special projects and commissions. Most recently you can see my art on the cover of Chicken Soup for the Volunteer Soul, and as greeting cards published by Island Heritage, Hawaii. The collection of paintings shown here is available for sale and reproduction. Please contact me for price and licensing information. :p>
Along with painting, I give massage and teach compassionate communication (influenced by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg). My hope is that these paintings bring you joy, inspiration, and peace. :p>
